Hi! I’m Elaine, a cartoonist and illustrator from the wilds of Canada. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and I’ve been drawing comic books since I was 5! I hold a BA in Illustration from The Arts University at Bournemouth in the UK. View my portfolio here.

I'm most well-known as the author of Look Straight Ahead, a graphic novel about a teen boy's struggle with mental illness. The book was very well received, and was nominated for a Joe Shuster Award in 2011. It was also the recipient of a 2012 Xeric Award, from the final grant cycle.

My comics work has also appeared in the anthologies Chilly Tales, Then It Was Dark, Bottoms Up, Built On Strange Ground, CORPUS, and Through The Labyrinths Of The Mind. My illustration work has appeared in Broken Pencil, Verb, The Feathertale Review, Blunderbuss, This Magazine, and the Review of Journalism.

A new edition of Look Straight Ahead is now available from Renegade Arts Entertainment, as well as my second graphic novel Dustship Glory (adapted from the novel of the same name by Andreas Schroeder).

Currently I'm working on a third graphic novel called The Last Band On Earth, the first issue of which is the recipient of a 2021 Joe Shuster Award! You can check out the first three chapters so far as pay-what-you-want PDF downloads on my Ko-Fi page.
