Hi! I’m Elaine, a cartoonist and illustrator from the wilds of Canada. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and I’ve been drawing comic books since I was 5! I hold a BA in Illustration from The Arts University at Bournemouth in the UK. View my portfolio here.

I'm most well-known as the author of Look Straight Ahead, a graphic novel about a teen boy's struggle with mental illness. The book was very well received, and was nominated for a Joe Shuster Award in 2011. It was also the recipient of a 2012 Xeric Award, from the final grant cycle.

My comics work has also appeared in the anthologies Chilly Tales, Then It Was Dark, Bottoms Up, Built On Strange Ground, and CORPUS. My illustration work has appeared in Broken Pencil, Verb, The Feathertale Review, Blunderbuss, This Magazine, and the Ryerson Review of Journalism.

A new edition of Look Straight Ahead is now available from Renegade Arts Entertainment, as well as my second graphic novel Dustship Glory (adapted from the novel of the same name by Andreas Schroeder). You can read the first chapter of Dustship Glory online here!
